I am a certified instructor of Sogetsu Ikebana, based in Izumisano, Osaka, Japan.

For over ten years, I have been fascinated by the creativity and depth of ikebana.

I continue to explore what plants and I can create together, approaching each encounter with nature with curiosity and an open mind.

いけばなのイメージって？

みなさん、「いけばな」にどのようなイメージをお持ちでしょうか。

私自身、いけばなを始める前は「いけばなは古典的で和室にいけるもの、日本の伝統文化」というイメージくらいしかありませんでした。実際にそのような印象を持たれている方が、多いかと思います。もちろん日本の伝統文化という側面もありますが、実は、いけばなって、想像以上にダイナミックでアーティスティックで自由なものなんです。そこが私がいけばなに魅了され続けている一つの理由です。「いけばなにはこういう側面もあるんだ、これもいけばななんだ」という、驚くべきいけばなの側面も発信していきたいと私は思っています。

お花が好きな方はもちろん、現代アートが好きな方にもぜひ、いけばなの世界をのぞいて欲しいと思っています。

What image comes to mind when you hear the word “Ikebana”?

Before I started practicing ikebana, I thought of it simply as a classical and traditional Japanese art form. I believe many people share this impression.

Of course, ikebana is deeply rooted in Japanese tradition, but it is also far more dynamic, artistic, and free-spirited than you might imagine.

That unexpected side of ikebana is one of the reasons I have remained fascinated by it for over ten years.

I want to share this surprising and expressive world of ikebana with others.

I hope to introduce ikebana not only to those who love flowers, but also to those who are drawn to contemporary art.
